Summer sky beats down, On the pretty fragile wings. The dragonfly gleams.

This uplifting inscription greets visitors at St John’s Hospice’s new memorial area created through the generosity of bereaved families and the goodwill of local firms.

The circular quiet space, at the rear of St John’s Information Centre, was prepared and surfaced with us providing both the equipment and labour free of charge.

A dragonfly- symbol of the hospice – has been carved at each side of the teak bench, one of four paid for by Doncaster families whose loved ones had been cared for at St John’s.

The benches were were secured in place, free of charge, by J&H Property Developments, of Wheatley.

Hospice fundraiser, Lindsey Richards, said: “Collectively, the donations of the families and businesses are worth several thousand pounds and have enabled us to transform a patch of land into a peaceful area where people can sit and reflect. Our thanks to everyone who has made it possible.
